With a busy household and two kids in high school, I needed a reliable calculator that could handle everything from algebra to trigonometry. The Franklin Scientific Graphing Calculator fit the bill perfectly at under $30. It's sturdy, which is great given my son's tendency to toss it into his backpack.

I've particularly liked the three operating modes - scientific, graphing, and statistical. They're easy to switch between, and each mode has its own dedicated button for quick access. My daughter uses the statistical mode for her AP Psych class, making data analysis a breeze.

However, I wish the screen was backlit. It's not a deal-breaker, but trying to decipher graphs in dim light can be a bit of a strain on the eyes. Overall though, it's been a solid investment and has certainly made homework time less stressful for both my kids and me!
