Works just like the $100+ iPad cover I bought for my 4th Gen iPad nine years ago. The back cover is clear plastic. It seems fairly sturdy, so I'm hoping to get about five years of use out of this (using my iPad daily). It's also very pretty, and the colors go with the color of my iPad nicely. It looks like it will stand up pretty securely. I'm happier with this than expected, especially since this wasn't expensive to purchase.
