I was skeptical at first, I mean, how could such a small and seemingly simple piece of kit make a difference? But I was tired of switching between lenses just to use different filters, so I decided to give this NiSi Brass Pro 77mm to 82mm Step-Up Ring a shot. After a couple of weeks with it, I've got to say, I'm impressed. It's precisely what I needed to streamline my photography process. The fit is spot on - no wobble or light leaks here. That brass alloy construction feels robust too; I'm not worried about tossing it in my bag between shoots. Two things really stand out for me. Firstly, the matte black finish is brilliant. It doesn't reflect light back into your lens like some others I've used. My shots are crisp and free from unwanted flares.
There is no match to brass for step up rings compared to aluminun ones. This is my 3rd NiSi product and I love them. Brass threads have so much less friction and binding compared to aluminum threads. Well built products that I am positive will stand up to the test of time.
Very good quality, screws like a butter but it's about twice weight of aluminum, so it makes camera little bit front heavy.
The anti-reflection handling on this ring is superb and is invaluable when used in the following application: I am using it with a 77mm Haoge lens hood to provide vignette free images using a 12mm Panasonic-Leica lens on a micro 4/3 camera. This wide lens hood is needed to provide images with no trace of vignette on this lens camera combination ! ! ! Note the anti-reflective treatment on this ring is described as "anti-reflective felt treatment inside the front thread minimize light leakage a
The quality is very good on this one. I don't mind paying more money for quality. I was actually deciding to buy either this brand or the Breakthrough. But after researching Breakthrough, I was not happy about their sneaky marketing strategy. Breakthrough is trying to imply they are made in the USA (displaying the US flag on their product and naming their product Breakthrough "San Francisco"). However, they manufacture their products in China (NOT the USA). Nisi, on the other hand, is a Chinese
I’m really impressed with this product! The brass material gives it a solid, durable feel, and it definitely doesn’t come off as cheap quality. Just a word of caution: when installing it, make sure to align the threads properly and screw it in slowly. If you rush it, you might damage the threads. This is likely why some people have had issues. Overall, it’s a fantastic product and definitely worth the investment!
