Not gonna lie, I almost didn't buy this Western Digital My Book 8TB drive because of its price. It seemed steep compared to others in its class. But after two weeks of use, I'm glad I did.

The setup was a breeze - plug it in, format it with my Mac, and I was ready to go. The best part? It's dead silent, which is impressive for an 8TB drive. My old one sounded like a small jet engine.



However, the password protection feature isn't as intuitive as I hoped. I had to look up the user manual twice before getting it right. But hey, once you're in, it's secure and fast, with my laptop reading and writing data without any noticeable lag.

All in all, despite its initial cost, this WD My Book has proven itself to be a reliable, quiet workhorse for backing up my ever-growing photography files. Just remember to set aside some time to figure out the password protection if you're planning on using it.
